Morehead deals the same open staircase as Somerset — ten columns of one to eight cards, every card face up, no stock — and changes one rule. The tableau builds down one rank in any suit but the card's own: a 7♠ may go on the 6♥, the 6♦ or the 6♣, but never on the 6♠. Moves are one card at a time and an empty column takes any card. Three hosts instead of two sounds generous; the catch is that the one host a card may not use is the one it will need on the foundation.
Three hosts, and the wrong one is always the same suit. A card may land on three of the four next-higher cards. That is more freedom than alternating colours gives, but it means a column built in Morehead's rule is a column of mixed suits — and the foundations want suit order. Build to dig, not to store.
Work the short columns first. The right-hand columns hold one, two and three cards. They empty in a move or two, and any card may enter the space. Two or three early spaces turn the eight-card columns from walls into work.
Never cover a card with its own suit's neighbour. You cannot, by the rule, but the instinct from other games is strong. What you can do is cover a card with the card that will want to sit on it on the foundation — the 7♥ on the 6♠ hides the 6♠ under the very card that comes after it in hearts, and that is harmless. What hurts is burying the 6♥ under anything.
Everything is visible, so count. No stock, no hidden cards: every dig can be planned to the end before you start it. If a plan needs a space you do not have, make the space first.
The Beleaguered Castle family is the open, stockless line of patience; Somerset is its staircase member, built in alternating colours with packed runs allowed to move. Morehead keeps Somerset's deal and open spaces, restricts the move to a single card, and swaps the build for the "any suit but your own" rule that Thumb and Pouch uses on the Klondike deal and Moosehide on the Yukon deal. It is the first castle-family member to use that rule, and the strictest way to play Somerset's board.
