Play Double Kingsley Solitaire Online — Kingsley on Two Decks

Double Kingsley is Double Klondike turned upside down. Nine columns of one to nine cards are dealt with only the top of each turned; eight foundations start with a king and build down to the ace, two per suit; the tableau builds up in alternating colours; only an ace may fill a space. The stock turns one card at a time in a single pass. Bank all 104 cards to win.

Setup

Shuffle two decks together. Deal nine columns of one to nine cards, the top card of each face up and the rest hidden — forty-five cards. The remaining fifty-nine form the stock. The eight foundations start empty and wait for kings.

Rules

• Foundations start with a king and build down in suit to the ace. Each suit has two; either takes its next card.
• Tableau builds up in alternating colours; a packed upward run moves as a unit.
• Only an ace may enter an empty column.
• Turning up: an exposed hidden card is turned.
• Stock: one card a turn to the waste, no redeal.
• Win when all eight foundations run from king to ace.

Strategy

Two decks give every card a twin and every foundation a partner, which is the help Kingsley lacks — but thirty-six hidden cards and a fifty-nine-card stock seen once make the digging long. Swap the ranks in your head and play Double Klondike.

• Kings and queens go up at once. They are the game's aces and twos; a foundation opened early finishes early, and two foundations per suit means a second king need not wait.
• Aces open columns. Only an ace takes a space, and an ace is the last card its suit banks. Seat aces early and build up on them.
• Prefer the reveal. Thirty-six cards are hidden. Turn them before you tidy.
• Twins double your hosts. A black nine has two red eights to land on in each deck. When one is buried, find the other before spending a space.
• Turn the stock last. Fifty-nine cards come once. Exhaust the tableau before each turn.
• Balance the two piles of a suit. Two foundations at the same rank compete for one card; at different ranks they take two.
