Play Quadrangle Solitaire Online — Corona With a Turned Base

Quadrangle is Corona with Canfield's opening. Twelve columns of three are dealt face up from two decks, and then one card is turned to a foundation: its rank is the base for all eight foundations, which build up in suit and wrap past the king to the ace. The tableau builds down in suit, wrapping the same way, one card at a time. A space is never yours — it is filled at once from the waste, or from the stock if the waste is empty. One card a turn, one pass, 104 cards to bank.

Setup

Shuffle two decks together. Deal twelve columns of three cards each, all face up. Turn one card to the first foundation; its rank is the base rank for every foundation. The remaining sixty-seven cards form the stock. There is no reserve.

Strategy

Corona's forced fill is the whole character of this game: you cannot make a space, you can only make room for whatever the waste has on top. The turned base adds the Canfield twist that the card one below the base is the last of its suit to move.

Where It Sits in the Canfield Family

Quadrangle is Corona — twelve columns of three, single-card moves, the forced fill from the waste, one pass — with two Canfield rules added: a turned base rank and a build that wraps on both sides. Corona lives on the Forty Thieves engine; Quadrangle lives here, on the Canfield engine, for those two rules, with no reserve. Double Canfield keeps the reserve and turns three cards a time; Deuces and Pluto fix the base at the twos.
